Uh, how do I say this: I had a chance to move to Paris so I took it.
I’m not sure when and where but I’d like to resurrect the Guerrilla Choir soon in Paris. It will take a bit of networking but I’m starting on it. I’ll let you know as soon as something is ready to happen.
Ciao

Guerrilla Choir is going to join forces w/ Rwandan singer, Jean-Paul Samputu to celebrate the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE, Sunday, Sept 21, at Mont Royal Park where the Tam-Tams play.
Jean-Paul is a genocide survivor and learned to forgive those that killed his family. Besides being an incredible performer, he spends a lot of his time as an international ambassador for peace and reconciliation.
http://www.samputu.com/biography.html
After he speaks at the city sponsored festivities, he will join us in singing around the park. He is writing a couple of special, easy-to-learn songs for us and for the occasion of the International Day of Peace.
To prepare, Jean-Paul will rehearse with us on Monday night Sept 15 at my house (???? rue Victor Hugo – Lucien L’Allier metro) – Remember, no special vocal abilities needed – just a desire to inject goodness and peace into our city.
We’ll have another rehearsal (w/out Jean-Paul) on Friday night Sept 19 at the Friendship house (120 Duluth East.) Try to make it to a rehearsal; but if it’s not possible, just come to the TamTams on Sunday, Sept 21 around noon.
And spread the word – this collaboration will be an exciting new twist for the choir and a chance to raise our voices for peace.

Parc Lafontaine - Montréal
The Guerrilla Choir will strike again – Saturday June 5 in Lafontaine Park (the SW corner nearest to the Sherbrooke metro) at high noon. We’ll sit in the grass and rehearse the Coldplay song – “Don’t Panic”
When we feel good about it, we’ll stroll through the park looking of groups of people who would like to sing it with us. We’ll have little word sheets for them and us. We’ll have lots of laughs with it,at the same time declaring among the green grass and trees that… “We Live in a Beautiful World!”
There’s a high probability (UPDATE: CBC WILL be there) that someone from CBC radio will follow us around with a microphone so we need as many voices as we can get.
At the end, I’m suggesting a Poutine Party, for those who want, at LaBanquise (corner of Rachel and Parc Lafontaine – they specialize in poutine, in case you’ve never been there.) This seems less complicated than the original picnic idea. (Carrying picnic stuff around while we sing, doesn’t sound fun.)
Here’s the Youtube of the song “Don’t Panic”:

Here are the words and chords:

Here’s the exact Google Map location:
http://www.google.com/maps?source=uds&q=Cherrier+and+Parc+Lafontaine
Directions by Metro: When exiting the Sherbrooke metro, follow the signs to Bus 24 EST, then walk out the door, take a right then another right. This will put you on Cherrier. Keep walking until you come to the park. Cross Cherrier and rue Parc Lafontaine then you should see us between the street and the lake. Look for some guitars…
Scheming to declare beauty with others,

Our next strike will be in a park on Saturday afternoon, June 28. We are perfecting the song “Don’t Panic” by Cold Play. (You may think of it titled “We Live in Beautiful World”. Anyway we’ll go to a park and look for a rather large group of people who would want to sing the song with us. We’ll provide the lyric sheets, instrumentalist, etc. Afterwards we’ll have a picnic ourselves. What do you think?

On Monday, June 16, we made another strike on the Montreal metro. We started singing on a random train at the Place des Arts heading west. We sang and got off at Atwater. Then we headed back east singing two more time until we reached Berri-UQAM, then back to the Place des Arts where we started.
It is amazing the different reactions we get – from the whole car ignoring us to people really getting into it, singing with us a bit and clapping at the end. This would be a great doctoral thesis in group dynamics.
